In Japan, the "mino" (straw cape) was traditionally worn over clothes as a rain gear to protect against rain.
The mino, used as a raincoat, was made from water-repellent plant leaves such as rice straw. TEIJIN's technology transforms the natural water-repelling structure found in nature into cutting-edge textiles.

The handle is made of sturdy ironwood, providing a good grip. It is characterized by its resistance to water and smooth wood grain.
Each natural wood handle is hand-bent by artisans, making each one original with no two colors or curves being exactly alike.

Caution!
Avoid oil from hand cream and hair wax.

It is very sensitive to oils; if you fold the umbrella with hands that have hand cream or hair wax on them, the water repellency may weaken. If you have oils on your hands when out, gently shake the umbrella to remove raindrops, then lightly fold it by holding the tie-strap (called a dō-name) and carry it for peace of mind.

After use, we recommend air-drying it in the shade overnight before storing.
